Sydney Structured Rhinoplasty Dissection Course

This is the official course of the AAFPS.
The course is open to all practising specialist plastic and specialist otolaryngology surgeons looking to improve their facial plastics training. Both plastic and ENT trainees are welcome, as well as Registered Nurses with an interest in rhinoplasty.
The course integrates hands-on dissection with lectures and group discussion.
Surgeon non-dissectors have the opportunity to act as hands-on assistants to those dissecting, during the hands-on cadaver workshop sessions.
This course is accredited by the Royal Australian College of Surgeons for 8 CPD points.
Course Features
- Supportive surgery of the nose including septal extension grafting, tensioning of the nasal valve, articulating rim grafts and alar base reduction.
- Preservation and open structured rhinoplasty techniques.
- Instrumentation required in rhinoplasty
- Facial aesthetics/photography
- Anatomy and anatomical variations relevant to rhinoplastic surgery
- Preparation and pre-op planning
- Identification of functional pitfalls in rhinoplasty
- Postoperative care and management
Course Faculty
All members of the faculty have wide experience in the management of cosmetic and functional nasal surgery including rhinoplasty techniques. They are actively involved in teaching and research.
George Marcells is an internationally recognized and trained Facial Plastic Surgeon and director of Bondi Junction Private Hospital. He is a US board exam certified facial plastic surgeon and has extensive experience in rhinoplasty.
Sim Choroomi is a Sydney based facial plastic surgeon with American Board training based in Los Angeles with a research focus on rhinoplastic techniques. Dr Choroomi is the current president of the AAFPS
A/Prof Catherine Meller is a facial plastic trained ENT surgeon with a expertise in functional and aesthetic disorders of the facial, facial muscles and nose. She is the current Vice President of the AAFPS.
Prof Richard Harvey is a dedicated Rhinologist and international speaker in disorders of the nose, sinus and nasal breathing. He has expertise in difficult and revision rhinoplasty works and has published research in the field.
Dr Phil Jumeau is an Australian trained and qualified ENT, Head and Neck Surgeon. After over 15 years of generalist ENT practice with a sub specialist interest in rhinoplasty, Dr Jumeau now works solely within the field of nasal reconstruction.
Gillian Dunlop has 25 years of experience as a rhinoplasty Surgeon & ENT Surgeon, she is a longstanding member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (Treasurer 1999-2005, Executive Secretary from 2020). Her main surgical interests are rhinoplasty and surgery for the correction of prominent ears.
Dr. Stephen Floreani FRACS (ORL H&NS) is based in Adelaide, South Australia. He conducted a 12 month post-fellowship training in advanced sinonasal surgery in 2002, under Professor PJ Wormald in Adelaide. In 2003, he undertook an open structure rhinoplasty fellowship in the UK under Drs. Tim Leontsinis and Simon Watts. His clinical practice is currently focussed on sub-specialty interests in the fields of sinonasal / endoscopic skullbase and rhinoplasty surgery (functional and cosmetic). Dr. Floreani holds current appointments at the Royal Adelaide and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals, being heavily involved with ENT registrar and rhinology/ rhinoplasty fellow training in these hospitals. He is regularly an enthusiastic contributor on the faculty of local, national and international courses.
